About this work

Queen Elizabeth I granted Trinity College Dublin it’s foundation charter in 1592. Trinity’s first major structural move was to build an anatomy house in 1710 and this “was an event of great significance in the history of Trinity College as it marked not only the foundation of the medical school but also the first formal move to institutionalise the teaching of science”. * In his time as Professor of Anatomy from 1947 to 1984, Cecil Erskine brought to life a personal vision of the building.
